"I think that the wheelchair race is a very good idea and a good subject to write about. It is also good for the kids who are in the wheelchairs. Can you imagine not being able to walk but still being able to compete? That would be my favorite part of the year."

Dreena Barker, the founder of Rapid Transit, has MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (MS). MS is an auto-immune disease where the mylin sheath which insulates the body's nerves is attacked by the person's own immune system. When the protective mylin is damaged the exposed neurons misfire resulting in various degrees of disability. Scaring results as the body tries to heal and further exacerbates the problem. 
   Water therapy in a cool, temperature controlled pool lowers the body's core temperature allowing better nerve signal conduction. The benefit lasts for hours.
   Unfortunately, public therapy pools are kept too warm and other pools offered are very expensive or not usable for therapy needs.
    
  Dreena stil needs a therapy pool. Her solution? Do research. Design a pool… and other assistive devices that really work for physically challenged people. Start a non-profit organization, do the research and develop the products so others can benefit, too.
